Daylight Saving Time for 2015 will automatically make your iPhone fall back an hour for DST

  • Nov 08, 2015

Many people using the devices for some time already do not get worried about time adjustments according to the changes since it does take place automatically although we have seen in the news that Turkey has not changed their time according to the world the devices made the changes but the country lived in the different time zone, obviously this doesn't happen very often, in some papers it's called president's time. Your iPhone, iPad, simply any iDevice operating on iOS will be acknowledging these changes automatically only on one condition that your location is known by your device and time zone settings are done.

Daylight saving time comes to an end in the US at 2.00 a.m. local time on Sunday November 1st 2015 and DST would come to an end. The mornings are going to be lighter and evenings darker, if you are lucky to be sleeping in a participating area of US an extra hour sleep will be yours.

The answer to the question if your device will be automatically adjusting to the new time is YES, devices will automatically fall back an hour on their own as long as your time zone is set on your device's settings, if you would like to check that please follow (General > Date & Time > Time Zone) , later in the night your iPhones time will fall back from 2.00 a.m. to 1.00 a.m.

Some iOS users detected bugs in the time zone change but most bugs had been already fixed and most daily light savings related bugs are no longer effective, your phone would not give you any issues this year.

In the UK and most other European countries the daylight saving session started a week ago and no users of iOS 9 or iOS 9.1 have reported any issues or bugs, transition was completed fine and smooth.

In the event that, your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch did not process the change automatically, then you need to check the following:

- Ensure that Location Services for “Setting Time Zone” has been enabled (Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services > Setting Time Zone). You might have disabled this service to improve battery life. If it is disabled for a reason you need to enable and reboot your device.

- You also need to make sure your iDevice is on iOS 5 or later versions.

Let us know if your device did not automatically move back by an hour correctly.

Some areas in the United States don’t observe daylight saving time. Those include Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas. The daylight saving time change in UK and most European countries took place on October 25 and in case of Australia and New Zealand on October 4th.
